The Beatitudes [part 1] (Matthew 5:1-4) Bible Reading: Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them, saying: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:1-4 Scripture Reflections to Consider: Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ today? What is the difference between a Christian and a disciple? What are some qualities of a disciple of Jesus? How can you live more like a disciple of Jesus today? What does it mean to be “poor in spirit”? Do you have a lifestyle of recognizing your spiritual poverty? Or do you have all the Jesus you want already? Do you mourn over your spiritual lack? Do you mourn over those who haven’t received Christ?
